Portland Soccer Club and Tennessee United Soccer Club share an interest in seeing the sport of soccer grow in our area. We are excited to announce a new partnership!
Portland Soccer Club has seen a good number of children come through the program over the years. Somewhat naturally, as the children grow in age, the numbers tend to decrease for a variety of reasons.
TUSC was created in 2004 for the purpose of offering a stable, professional program for the development of young soccer players in our area and to provide a path and opportunity for soccer players in Sumner County and Northern Middle Tennessee to play soccer at the highest levels in the State and Country. TUSC has shown interest in raising the level of soccer participation and quality throughout Sumner County and surrounding areas. “We are excited to be partnering with Portland Soccer Club,” said TUSC Director of Operations Jonathan Wayland. “We want to use our coaching knowledge and expertise to help develop a passion for the game with young kids. We have found that the more tools these kids have at a young age, the more fun they will have, and it creates a lifelong love of the game.”
Given these things, the Portland Soccer Club and Tennessee United Soccer Club have agreed to work together to ensure the quality of the experience in Portland is raised to a higher level. Starting in the Fall of 2017, PSC will invite TUSC trainers to our soccer fields for our U6 and U8 soccer groups to teach both kids and coaches alike. On Mondays, all our U6 players and coaches will work with TUSC coaches/trainers to begin the evening. After their session, our U8 players and coaches will get their turn!
“We are so excited to be able to provide this opportunity to our players and coaches in Portland!”, said PSC President Nick Tuttle. “We believe that this partnership can help bring the sport of soccer along by not only giving direct professional-level training to our players, but allowing our young coaches the opportunity to learn from the TUSC coaches on the field working side-by-side.”
